Frequently  Asked Questions

Do I need a bookkeeper?  I already have a tax preparer.

Your CPA or tax preparer advises you on tax matters and helps you file your taxes, and if they need to organize your books as well, it will be costly. We will organize and classify your books to provide up-to-date financial reports so the stress of tax time will be forgotten. We also council our clients to make better business decisions, such as hiring staff members, choosing the most efficient and inexpensive software or apps and inventory control.

Partnering with Goodbooks will make your CPA love you again and will allow them just to focus on the tax aspects of your business.

How much do you charge for your services?

Regular monthly bookkeeping prices are based on the size of your business, the number of bank and credit card accounts you have and the average number of transactions you have each month.  Base services begin at $150 per month, with the option of add on services such as Accounts Payable and Receivable.

Pricing for catch-up work is based on complexity and the number of months of backlog to clean up.

We base our prices on the value of service and the one-on-one customer care your business needs. No contacts, no gimmicks and you can opt-out at anytime.  All bookkeeping services are tax deductible.

What accounting software do you use?

We support secure, cloud-based bookkeeping software such as Xero and Quickbooks Online.  If you don’t currently have accounting software, we can recommend which option would best meet your business needs.

Why hire a virtual bookkeeper?

Outsourcing your bookkeeping needs has become a cost-effective option for business owners.

On-site bookkeepers require office space and furniture, a computer, employee benefits, employer-paid taxes and HR/administrative support in addition to their salary.  While on-site bookkeepers cost around $42,000 a year, plus benefits; a virtual bookkeeper is paid as a contractor and will only cost you between $4,200 and $19,500 a year, depending on the services contracted.  All bookkeeping services are tax deductible.

How do I get my financial data to you?

There are many options for sending pertinent documents to us.  Most banks offer “bank feeds” where your statements can be downloaded into your accounting software.  Many banks offer accountant logins with restricted access and permissions.  We can evaluate the best methods to submit your receipts whether through Hubdoc,  Shoeboxed, Scan Snap or other applications.
